01 What happened

They made E20 the default. Nobody asked us.

Since April 2026, petrol blended with 20% ethanol has become the default at nearly every pump in India. No warning. No choice. No clear label at the nozzle.

20%

Ethanol in the default blend

E20 means one-fifth of every litre is ethanol. It became the default without a labelled alternative beside it.

0

Clear labels at the nozzle

Nothing at the pump tells you what blend you are buying. A default you cannot see is not a choice.

Three blends exist. You can buy one.

Bar = ethanol share, 0–25% scale
E0

E10

Demand 01 is exactly this row chart with the top two rows switched on: every pump offering E0 — or at minimum E10 — alongside E20.

Read this before you rely on it

Reported mileage loss on E20 is disputed and this campaign does not claim a settled figure. Nor does it claim ethanol damages every engine. The case is narrower: vehicles built before E20 compatibility were never designed for this blend, their owners were never consulted, and there is no label at the nozzle. Independent testing is demand six for exactly that reason.

Questions

Before you sign

What is the Ethanol Hatao Andolan?

It is a peaceful citizens' petition run by Lucky Cockroach India for the right to choose your fuel. Since April 2026, E20 — petrol blended with 20% ethanol — has become the default at nearly every pump in India, with no labelled alternative beside it and no clear label at the nozzle. The andolan asks for choice, honest labels and fair pricing.

Are you against ethanol or against farmers?

No. We are not against clean fuel and we are not against farmers. We are against being left with no choice and no label. Our demand is that E0 — or at minimum E10 — is offered alongside E20, so the decision belongs to the person paying for the tank.

Does E20 damage engines or cut mileage?

This campaign does not claim a settled figure. Reported mileage loss on E20 is disputed, and we do not claim ethanol damages every engine. Our case is narrower: vehicles built before E20 compatibility were never designed for this blend, their owners were never consulted, and there is no label at the nozzle. That is exactly why demand six asks for independent, published testing.

Who can sign this petition?

Any citizen. You do not need to own a vehicle. Whether you drive, ride, or simply believe a fuel change should come with a label and a choice, your signature adds documented weight to the charter.

What happens to my details?

We collect only your name, city, contact and — if you choose to give it — your vehicle and what you have experienced. It is used to count and verify signatures and to keep you updated on the andolan. We never sell or misuse your data, ever.

Is this a political party or a protest?

Neither. Lucky Cockroach is a non-political movement, and this is a peaceful, documented petition. We campaign on policy, not persons — the charter names no individual and alleges no corruption.
