CBSE Marking Petition & Demands
Errors in CBSE's On-Screen Marking software have cost students marks they rightfully earned. This petition puts forward two practical demands — free re-checking for every student, and a relaxation in the 75% aggregate criteria for this year.

About This Petition
What This Petition Is
This is a formal, peaceful citizens' petition addressed to the Central Board of Secondary Education and the Ministry of Education. It calls for two clear relief measures for students affected by errors in this year's On-Screen Marking process.
A petition is a collective, documented request. Every signature on this page is a verified citizen formally adding their name to that request. When the petition closes, the complete list of signatures is compiled and submitted — together with these demands — to the Central Board of Secondary Education, the Ministry of Education, and the other authorities listed on this page.
The petition is deliberately narrow in scope. It does not seek to assign blame, name individuals, or call for any resignation. It concerns itself only with the students — the people who studied honestly and then lost marks to a software process they had no control over. Its two demands are specific, reasonable, and well within the power of the Board and the Government to grant without delay.
It is open to every citizen. You do not have to be a CBSE student to sign. Whether you are an affected student, a parent, a teacher, or simply someone who believes a child should not pay for the system's mistakes, your signature adds measurable, documented weight to a demand that is otherwise easy for the authorities to overlook.
What We Demand
This Petition Asks For
Free Re-Checking for Every Student
Because the On-Screen Marking (OSM) software used to evaluate CBSE answer sheets has shown serious errors, re-checking and re-evaluation must be made completely free for every student this year. No child should have to pay to correct a mistake the system itself made.
Relaxation in the 75% Aggregate Criteria
Since this year's results have been affected by marking-software faults, the 75% aggregate eligibility criteria must be relaxed for this academic year — so that no deserving student loses a college seat or opportunity over marks that were never fairly counted.
Our Position
What This Petition Does NOT Ask For
We will not simply watch the spectacle the way many in public life choose to. Lucky Cockroach is a non-political movement, and this petition does not seek to blame, shame, or unseat any official. It makes two specific, practical requests of the Government and the CBSE — nothing more. The students did not build the marking software, and they should not be made to carry the cost of its failures. Questions of blame can be debated elsewhere; relief for these students cannot wait.
The Background
Why This Petition Exists
Lakhs of CBSE students sit their board exams once and trust the result to be fair. This year, the On-Screen Marking software used to evaluate answer sheets has shown clear errors — totals that do not add up, answers left unmarked, marks that simply do not reflect what a student wrote. For a Class 12 student, even a few wrong marks can mean a lost college seat, a missed cut-off, or a year of their life. A re-check should not be a paid privilege when the mistake belongs to the system, and a rigid 75% criteria should not punish students for marks that were never fairly counted. This petition exists to put those students first.
